A friction material professional with over thirty years inside industry R&D.

A M.Tech graduate of the Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur, Meenaakshisundaram V entered the friction materials industry in 1994 and concluded his executive career as Vice President of R&D in 2024. Across three decades he led formulation, manufacturing process establishment, validation and team development for one of India's leading friction industries — with output reaching European and North American markets.

He is recognised for securing OEM approvals from Tata Motors, Daimler India, Eicher Motors and Ashok Leyland, and for steering programmes through ECE R90 regulatory approval for the European aftermarket.

Equally important is what he built around the work: validation labs, manufacturing process controls, raw material development pipelines, and a generation of engineers — between 60 and 75 individuals mentored from Graduate Trainee through to Deputy General Manager.

Today, he consults independently for deep-tech startups, OEMs and Tier-1 suppliers, investment firms conducting technical due diligence, and academic institutions and research laboratories — bringing the same rigour to friction materials due diligence, electric-vehicle braking, sustainable formulations, lab setup, failure analysis and research advisory.
